To create the perfect sommeliers corkscrew. The final design must be capable of removing all manner of cork closures with relative ease and style while providing the operator with a sense they are using a tool designed for professionals operating at the top of their field.

All components must be the highest quality possible and be designed to last a lifetime of heavy commercial use as a lifetime warranty will be provided.

The Manufacture Process
The design brief demanded the use of premium materials and precision manufacturing processes not normally associated with this style of product. The primary process chosen combines traditional low precision stainless steel casting with the plastic injection process and is capable of delivering high part detail with high precision.

This process is called Metal Injection Molding (MIM) and is what has allowed a design freedom not normally available using traditional manufacturing processes. More…+

Single Action vs Double Action
I am often asked why I elected a single action lever design over the more popular double action.

Through a lengthy process of research and design, I found that with an ideal leverage ratio, that the two stage design was simply unnecessary and only adds complexity to the cork removal process.

The Code38′s engineering eliminates the requirement for two stages. With the helix fully inserted, and with the use of a balanced pull technique, it is simple single action to remove the cork.
